Privacy Policy
The short version
- You don't need an account. The app signs you in anonymously, and your profile is just a username and country you choose.
- We use your information to run the games, keep The One Chance to one go, ever, save your progress, remind you to play if you ask us to, and improve the app.
- Ads appear only if you choose to watch a rewarded ad. You decide whether ads can be personalised.
- We never sell your personal information.
- You can delete your profile at any time in Settings ▸ Delete my data.
1. Who we are
1 Chance is made by Taiwo Omisore, an independent developer ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at app1chance@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Profile: the username you choose and your country. The country starts from your device's region setting, and you can change it. We never ask for your location.
- Feedback: if you use the feedback form, we receive your message, category, star rating and, only if you provide it, an email address to reply to.
Information collected automatically
- Identifiers: an anonymous app user ID (from Firebase Authentication) and a random player code shown in Settings (for example 1C-7KQ2-9XFD). Neither contains your name or contact details.
- Gameplay: scores, The One Chance result, Dailies played, best score, streaks and the number of games played.
- App and device: app version, iOS version, device model and language.
- Purchases: whether you have 1 Chance Pro and your purchase history, so your purchases work and can be restored. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card details.
- Usage and diagnostics: how features are used (for example "a Daily was finished"), plus crash and performance information.
- Notifications: a push-notification token, if you allow notifications.
- Advertising data: only when you choose to watch a rewarded ad. See section 4.
3. How we use it
| Purpose | Information | Legal basis (UK/EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Run the games, save progress, sync across your devices | Identifiers, gameplay, app/device | Performing our agreement with you |
| Keep The One Chance to one go, ever, even after reinstalling | Player code, One Chance result, Game Center player ID, DeviceCheck | Legitimate interests (a fair game for everyone) |
| Your profile, and sending reminders you turn on | Username, country, notification token | Performing our agreement; consent for notifications |
| Pro purchases and restoring them | Purchase history, identifiers | Performing our agreement |
| Answering feedback and fixing problems | Feedback, profile, app/device, player code | Legitimate interests |
| Understanding and improving the app | Usage, diagnostics, anonymous profile summaries | Legitimate interests |
| Rewarded ads you choose to watch | Advertising data | Consent where required; otherwise legitimate interests |
We don't use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Advertising and tracking
- 1 Chance shows no banner or pop-up ads. An ad plays only when you tap to watch one for a reward, such as an extra practice go or saving a streak. 1 Chance Pro has no ads.
- Ads are provided by Google AdMob. Where the law requires it (the UK, EEA, Switzerland and some US states), you'll see Google's consent form before any ad. You can change your choice at any time in Settings ▸ Privacy choices.
- On iPhone and iPad, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asks whether ads may use your device's advertising identifier. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", ads are not personalised using it.
- Google may infer an approximate location from your IP address to serve relevant ads. This is never precise location.
- Your games, scores and profile are never used for advertising.
5. Service providers
We use trusted providers who process information on our behalf, under contracts that protect it:
- Google Firebase: anonymous sign-in, databases for profiles, feedback and One Chance results (Cloud Firestore, Realtime Database), analytics, push notifications, remote settings and cloud functions. See Firebase privacy.
- Google AdMob: rewarded ads. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
- RevenueCat: managing subscriptions and purchases. See RevenueCat privacy.
- Apple: payments, Game Center, iCloud and DeviceCheck (see section 6).
We never sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone else except where the law requires.
6. Apple services
- Game Center: if you sign in, Apple handles leaderboards and achievements under Apple's privacy policy. We receive your Game Center player ID to keep The One Chance fair.
- iCloud: your iCloud Keychain and iCloud key-value storage are used to remember that you've played The One Chance and to keep your player code across your devices.
- DeviceCheck: Apple stores two anonymous bits per device for us (for example, "The One Chance has been played"). They contain no personal information.
7. How long we keep it
- Profile and gameplay summary: while you use 1 Chance, or until you delete it.
- Feedback: for as long as needed to respond to it and improve the app, or until you ask us to delete it.
- Analytics: according to Google Analytics' data-retention settings.
- The One Chance record: a minimal record (player code, score and date) is kept so that The One Chance remains one go, ever. It contains no name or contact details.
- Purchases: as long as needed to provide Pro and to meet legal and tax obligations.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (including the UK, EEA and California), you have the right to access, correct, delete or download your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can:
- change your username and country in Settings ▸ Profile;
- delete your profile in Settings ▸ Delete my data;
- change your ad choices in Settings ▸ Privacy choices and in iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking;
- turn off notifications in iOS Settings at any time;
- email app1chance@gmail.com with your player code for any other request. We'll reply within one month.
We don't sell or "share" personal information as defined by California law. If you're in the UK or EEA, you can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
9. Deleting your data
In Settings ▸ Delete my data you can delete your profile (username, country and gameplay summary) straight away, and we remove any feedback linked to you within 30 days. To keep the game fair for everyone, the minimal One Chance record described in section 7 is kept. Deleting the app removes the data stored on your device, but iCloud data remains until you remove it in iOS Settings.
10. Children
1 Chance is suitable for all ages but isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. International transfers
Our providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where information leaves the UK or EEA, it's protected by safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
12. Security
Information is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted by security rules so that players can only write their own profile and can never read anyone else's information or feedback. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
13. Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
14. Contact
Questions or requests: app1chance@gmail.com. Please include your player code (Settings ▸ Player code) so we can find your information.
